What this event says to me, is that God wanted to keep his people ignorant. God was afraid they'd have the knowledge that he did and that his faithful would not continue to follow him blindly. Hence the term "blind faith". I would view myself a failure as a parent if I did not equip my children with curiosity and encouraged them to challenge the world. I lay myself bare before my children so that they are open to question me, exchange ideas and to explore and learn. Therefore, I have no use for God in my life and nor do they. That being said, they have grown to be critical thinkers and open minded adults. They embrace science and nature and are respectful of other peoples' views and the world around them. What I am most proud of is that they would never follow a god who was so cruel and had the ability to make this a wonderful life, and yet his faithful struggle and worse, some will be chosen to follow him to heaven, while the rest would be left behind to languish. This is who you choose to follow? No thank you.

The Book of Genesis uses metaphor in depicting Adam and Eve, the first human couple committing the first act of sin, known as original sin. However, it was their shift in consciousness which led to their fall. The first mistake humans made was to identify themselves as male and female, a body, rather than the soul that occupies the body. The primary vice that led to their eviction from the garden was ego, false knowledge of the self or self-illusion. When they identified their bodies as the basis of their friendship, they felt ashamed and hid themselves away. The story is depicting the fall of, soul consciousness to body consciousness.
