Excellent summary. Thanks. Especially for those who were running CentOS and now don't know what to do.

Ubuntu server and desktop releases for me as well. And for the same reasons. They are so widely used it's easy to find help either via the official channels or all over the internet in blogs, youtube videos, forum posts, etc.

I am managing my own companys network. Using vmware vsphere with few ubuntu machines. some of theme are 20.04 and some are 18.04. All in all it works very well. The community support is on next level. Used debian for web servers, but turns out its missing a lof of newer software that could have been installed via external repos but that adds up the work of testing it before production. meanwhile ubuntu is more like set it fast and forget it.

Thanks for this video. Would love to see you make a video on OpenSUSE, Clear Linux, Rocky Linux, Alma, and Oracle to see any differences (will guess no difference between the last 3).

Being a part of enterprise, I like RHEL as their support is very professional and fast.

If you are in the enterprise organization, you know RHEL and SLES are the only primary choices for servers due to application supportability like SAP, Oracle and etc.

Yes please talk about both, Open SUSE and Clear Linux

AlmaLinux is also becoming a popular alternative to CentOS, because like Rocky Linux, it aims to be as close a 1:1 RHEL clone distro as possible, just like CentOS was.. To the point so I don't even know what the difference between AlmaLinux and Rocky Linux are anymore lol

When it comes to choosing a linux dstribution, I would not go for a derivative, but rather the original.
Debian is my frist choice for any project in any environment.
In the field of support, I would be pleased to choose from a pool of offers, rather thant being stuck with a single point of failure.

Hey, what a great and informative video! I want to ask: Fedora Server is good for making some sort of server? 'cause I'm interested on doing it with Fedora (I love that distro lmao), but i can't find much info for Fedora based servers

The most consistent distro that never ever broke for me is SuSe Linux. The use libzypp / ex spacewalk (Red Hat) for package management. Very consistent.
In regards of leading developments I'd choose Red Hat. They are the ones bringing techniques forward that drives the whole LinuX based OS industry

Bonjour, ont peu utilisé Fedora server comme un TrueNAS, pour gérer à distance ses fichiers et sauvegardes ?. Merci

does it matter if I use ubuntu 14 or ubuntu 20 ?
because the ubuntu 14 only takes 50mb ram, while ubuntu 20 takes 150mb ram.
so I can use the cheapest VPS plan with only 0.5 gb Ram.

Hi Christian, is their a way to learn RedHat Linux for free? Like an edu Version for beginners who wants to start to become a professional. Or should i start with the "free redhat version" centOS?

Very informative unbiased information from an IT professional instead of the usual BS from some Linux guy stating my distro is the best for any use case. BTW you can also get a RHEL developer license if anyone's interested in learning more also you now have Rocky and Alma distros which are RHEL binary compatible.
