Man, they really cast Joel perfectly, just based on how I pictured him. This was more than a game for many of us who played it. This was an amazing journey, with a relationship development between two characters never before experienced in a video game. Playing this game, being a father, had me 1000% invested in it. The moment between Joel and Ellie after she kills the guy in the diner was as moved as I've been in a movie or game ever.

I’m enjoying the focus they’re placing on Joel’s brutality insidiously being passed down to Ellie. The way she looked at him when he killed that soldier, and the way she looks to him in fear in this trailer when the clickers are there and he calmly tells her to be quiet. I think little things like this are very meticulously placed into the show to convey what the missing action sequences of extensive combat in the gameplay can’t. Loving all of it.

That first episode blew me out of the water. The team behind the show nailed every single beat of that premiere. The elements that were the same as in the game were amazing, and each decision that veered away from the game made the episode even more impactful. I know it's only the beginning of the season, but I hope this show will define how video games are adapted to television and film from this point onward. I'm still giddy from how tense and exciting and amazing it was.

Within a single episode, it is already the greatest video game adaptation of all time. It is without equal. This was absolutely flawless in its execution; the acting, writing, directing, score, and cinematography were superb. They not only reincorporated lines from the game that don't feel cheap, but they expand on the story so much more than what I was anticipating. Waiting for the next episode is going to be agony. I've been a fan of this game for 10 years and this was more than what I was expecting it to be. We have a future HBO classic on our hands. I'm so happy to see this come to life.
