MUST PACK Medications and First Aid Kits CHECK LIST

Use this checklist to prepare for your next trip abroad. Make sure to bring items with you, since quality of items bought overseas cannot be guaranteed. Not all of these items may be relevant to you and your travel plans. These are all suggestions and only to be used as a check list. You should always consult your doctor or pharmacist for advise on what, when and how to take any over the counter medications

Prescription medicines
All prescription medications should be carried in carry-on luggage incase checked bags are or lost or arrive late
❏ Current prescriptions
❏ Antibiotic prescribed by your Doctor for self treatment of moderate to severe Travelers' diarrhea
❏ Prescriptions to prevent malaria, if needed
❏ Prescriptions to help with altitude sickness if traveling to places such as Cusco, Peru where the city sits at an altitude over 11,000 ft

Over The Counter Medicines
❏ Diarrhea medicine (Imodium or Pepto-Bismol) for mild or moderate symptoms
❏ Antacid to relieve heartburn (Tums, Peto-Bismol, Alka-Seltzer, etc)
❏ Antibacterial ointment (Bacutracin, Neosporin, Polysporin)
❏ Antifungal ointments for athletes foot, yeast infection (Lotrimin, Micaderm)
❏ Lubricating eye drops (Visine)
❏ Insect bite or sting gel or cream (After Bite, Calamine, oral antihistamine, Hydrocortisone Cream)
❏ Relief from bloating or gas (Gas-X)
❏ Immune System Support (Airborne)
❏ Antihistamine to treat allergy symptoms (Allegra, Claritin, Benadryl, etc)
❏ 1% hydrocortisone cream – topical steroid, reduces the actions of chemicals in the body that cause inflammation, redness and swelling. (cortisone-10)
❏ Motion sickness medicine (Patches, Dramamine – they have regular and non-drossy)
❏ Cough drops (Halls), cough suppressant (Mucinex), or expectorant (Robitussin, Mucinex)
❏ Cold and Flu – (DayQuil, NiteQuil, etc)
❏ Decongestant used to relieve nasal congestion and upper respiratory tract (Sudafed, Claritin-D)
❏ Pain and fever medicine (Tylenol, Aspirin, or Ibuprofen – Motrin from Cramps – Excedrin for Migraines)
❏ Constipation Relief Tablets
Mild laxative (Dulcolax, MiraLax, etc)
❏ Mild sedative or sleep aid (zzQuil, Melatonin, etc) and/or prescription for your Doctor
❏ Oral rehydration salts (Nuun, Emergen-C electrolyte Replenishment)

First Aid Items / Essentials
❏ First Aid quick reference card
❏ Burn Ointment or Gel (Neosporin, Alocane Emergency Burn Gel)
❏ Digital thermometer
❏ Bandages – regular and waterproof, all shapes and sizes
❏ Gauze
❏ Medical Tape used to hold bandages or other dressing onto a wound
❏ Cold Compress
❏ Antibacterial Gel (Purell)
❏ Triangular bandage for a sling
❏ Emergency Survival blanket
❏ Dentemp – repair lost fillings or loose caps
❏ Small splints for fingers or toes
❏ Safety Pins
❏ Antiseptic wound cleaner (Hydrogen Peroxide)
❏ Aloe gel for sunburns
❏ Rubbing Alcohol -disinfectant
❏ Mole Skin Padding to help prevent blisters
❏ Natural Anti-Inflammation remedy which helps sore muscles (Epson Salt)

Another suggestion: add baby powder to your pac!
So great for shoes - blister prevention .... and allover use to help prevent heat rash and irritation!!

We did an Amazon River trip in 2006. Brought everything from hats with Mosquito Netting to Industrial Strength Repellent.
I guess the bugs knew we were coming 'cause we didn't need any of it .. weird.
Still it's Way Better to be prepared and if I were to go again, I'd bring All the same stuff as before' cause you never know..
