Ferrari SF-24: initial track data confirms F1 wind tunnel and on dynamic bench test data

Encouraging reports emerge from the Fiorano circuit following Ferrari's completion of the initial filming day earlier this week. With Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz covering a total of 200 kilometers in favorable weather conditions, the Maranello team has successfully scrutinized and compared data from the new SF-24 single-seater. This analysis comes ahead of the Bahrain pre-season testing session scheduled for next week at the Sakhir circuit.

In contrast to the previous season, where issues were evident from the first lap at Fiorano after the SF-23 car presentation, Ferrari is currently buoyed by a more positive situation. According to Italian media, this time the track has validated the data observed by Ferrari technicians in the wind tunnel and on the dynamic bench, where the SF-24 underwent about ten days of intensive testing before making its on-track debut.

Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz report that the sensations and impressions from the winter sessions in the Ferrari simulator have been affirmed. An initial positive note is the absence of porpoising, a characteristic effect present in this car generation since its introduction in 2022. However, the most promising aspect lies in the car's behavior: Technical Director Enrico Cardile and his team aimed to create a car that is much easier to drive, particularly one that performs well under various track conditions and external factors. This addresses a key limitation observed in the 2023 Formula 1 car.

We can all talk about the major improvements they've made. However, until they are racing, only then can we truly find out how good or bad is the car. I am hoping Ferrari can actually deliver a good car this year. One that can fight for the championship. Let's see what they're going to do in Bahrain. There we'll see how competitive they will be.
