@50places We all fall short of being perfect, And I agree!-who can work to be better all their life and get anywhere..but at the same time, happiness comes and goes man, it all fades away....but I also agree that we dont have alot of time here, so we should persue something...But what can you persue in this world that dosnt fade away? or what do you have here to hold on to so strongly that wont fade away also?

@50places ....very interesting Mr. Staps..I hope you find what your looking for, but I think the answer has already come, and its been given as a free gift.. I dont understand it all, or how the Trinity "works" ..but If I were to understand everything about God then He wouldnt be much of one... "Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, 'Why did you make me like this?'"
The Trinity is hard to understand and accept, but its interesting how much we dont understand and yet still accept it..

and that it is the actions that you take in life (the choices that you make) that are your salvation and eternal life is a reward. besides why the hell does he care what people believe one man's faith is no business of another.

One might even argue that these rules help some to find happiness. In that by following these rules they are freed from having to wrestle with moral decisions as their morals are guided by their faith. secondly Christianity teaches that salvation is found in life (he obviously has never actually read the Bible and just ridicules people and their faith based upon some misguided sense that religion is only for the weak and foolish)

or chances are that something may happen

Sorry for being wordy but I can’t stand it when people think they are better than other because they believe differently (think Mother Theresa was foolish for devoting her life to the helpless?)

The statement "Christian thinking doesn't really encourage us to become happy in the present tense. The promise of salvation is something that doesn't happen until after our own physical death." is total bull shit. The teachings of Christianity do not restrict anyone from pursuing happiness (on the contrary it teaches people to peruse it). They establish a code of ethics by which people can choose to live their lives.
