Rusty 2-Stroke Engine Chainsaw Restoration

Показать описание
In this video, we restore a classic 1965 2-stroke engine chainsaw that has been neglected for years. Manufactured by Homelite, a renowned name in power tools, this chainsaw was once a powerful tool but has fallen into disrepair, with a seized engine, rusted metal parts, and worn-out handles. We carefully disassemble the chainsaw, clean and restore each component, replace damaged parts, and sharpen the chain and bar. After reassembling, we fire it up to see if it can run like new again. Join us on this restoration journey as we bring this vintage Homelite tool back to life

A two stroke deserves a piston/rings at every tear down. That's probably why it's knocking so hard. Really nice job on the rest of it.

I have a chainsaw, purchased around 1999. It's a good brand, but the clear fuel line has disintegrated with age. I have the replacement package, but I can't even do that. I'm really amazed at your work on this.

You will never convince me that it started first pull.

Restoration is a balance—honoring what once was while preparing it for what’s to come. To restore is to see value in the past and, through precision, give it new purpose. It’s a reminder that all things fade, yet can be reborn, if only for a time.

Sometimes I just appreciate how detailed some can go in explaining in the comments section

You did a great job dude! Don’t listen to the keyboard warriors telling you what they would’ve done different while they put on their Velcro shoes because they don’t know how to tie them.

You did a very nice job. It looks very nice. Are you gonna use it or are you just gonna have it on display? I’m sure there’s not a lot of all the lights around but whatever you did a good job. Enjoy watching thank you God bless you.

Another fantastic restoration! I love watching you work, bringing something destined for the rubbish back to a useful life.

I'm glad to see you post this video after the news of typhoon Yagi hitting Vietnam. I hope you and your family are safe and well?

13:56 Sandblasting without proper hand protection is absolutely not okay. One wrong slip and all your skin and muscle is gone to the bone. Not to mention how bad that is for your skin just to be that close to an abrasive being moved with such power. Sickening to think of what could happen.

It's nice to see someone actually restoring things, but research and talking about the thing you're restoring is so much better than asmr.

I have a 1960's Remington PL4 I bought for $10. I managed to get it running, but it will die out once under heavy load. Running across your channel I think I'll finally take the time to restore it. Thanks for the content!

That 3d print design is absolutely masterful, and you obviously know what you are doing. However, I'd never spray paint the inside of a (2-stroke) crankcase. But again: you seem to know what you can get away with.. 😎 Great end result, but sawing a log would have been a great test.

Thats a legit restoration unlike others deliberately rusting things to make videos 📷👍

How people can let their tools get this far gone. Nice job getting this venerable Homelite saw get back to it’s glory.👍

I have my grandpa's old homelites (3 of them). They made a beast of a saw back in their heyday. I need to tear em down and give them a nice paint job. I get it down and run it every now and then but for the most part they just hang in the back of the shop.
