While reading Frankenstein, my mind constantly jumps back to this documentary. So many events and experiences of Mary Shelley’s childhood are truly reflected in her writing. The age at which she writes this novel, along with the time period, are both crucial factors that are personified by her protagonist and they really bring this story to life. This video helps to reveal to readers the inspiration for this novel. I love how she has no limits or boundaries in her writing and lets her imagination run wild!

A woman ahead of the times. If she lived now her story wouldn't be dramatic and scandalous. It would be almost normal.
And wanting Shelley's heart... She wanted a piece of him. She lost children, ostracized by society, and now losing him must have been horrendous.

Mary Shelley’s novel I believe is highly based around what she experienced throughout her entire life. Her novel highly reflects how she has felt and she most likely used this story to help her cope with it. Her loss and the deaths that surrounded her were more or less the reasoning for her stories.

Cumberbatch could play Byron. He sort of looks like him. I grew up reading about these people.

While it seemed to be overtly heretical, it was, in fact, the opposite. The message was that man must not assume the role of God, lest he be punished for it. The cautionary message, if not the religious context, is still relevant today.
