Dr. Katz explains vaginismus, a psychosomatic reaction.

Vaginismus is an instantaneous, involuntary tightening of the vaginal opening upon penetration in fear or worry about pain, or about how it will feel, or because it hurt before, or because of fearing the unknown, etc. Vaginismus = a vagina in panic.

Best doctor I ever met . I love you guys. You changed my life 5 years ago and because of your treatment I saved my marriage and I have my daughter who is now 4. Keep up the good work many women out there needs help and are suffering in silence.

I love you ladies. It makes so much sense that vaginismus is caused by anxiety. I went through your treatment and it really helped me.

It's great to see this... I have also treated myself. Weedborn oils have helped me a lot.

100%. Thank you so much for explaining.

I found that despite preparation and explanations. My ex husband found that "wall" a turn on. Sex without fear became boring to him. Terror and physical aggression became his new pleasure. I stay away from men because I feel as though I am training rapists. The guilt of my non perfromance and fear. Becomes a forgiving green light for a sick traumatic experience. It really feels like dying for me. But a new virgin for him. It is unbearable. I stayed celibate for over 13 years and counting. Bc of Vaginismus secondary.

My late husband was into porn, he told me I was boring and he couldn't even get it up because I could not excite him. I haven't had intercourse since, 25 years. Now even pelvic exams are painful.

I apparently have the condition (self diagnosed) I live in a country where I am supposed to abstain myself till marriage. In a perfect world a doctor wouldn't judge a patient but last time I was at the gynaecologist she refused to give me a checkup unless a guardian was present (I am 21). I don't know what to do about it. Is there anything I can try at home that helps? Please let me know. I am desperately searching for help.

Can you please make a part two about ways to help the fight or flight reasoning on your own or if that is even possible without a doctors help. I was sexually active from the age of 17 to 21 with my husband and had no issues. About a year into our marriage it started getting more and more painful to where we couldn’t even try anymore. I would scream out loud from it being so painful, like he was stabbing me with a knife. (He was always super gentle btw) It’s been 3 years of me not being able to have sex with my husband and it’s breaking my heart. I just want to be fully intimate with the man I love again. I wanna help my chances of getting pregnant. I wanna feel like a woman again. If I get drunk with it ease my mind and let me have sex? Will it help my fight or flight or will it not matter at all? Is there anything I can do?
