They reduce evaporation in the water by 99%. So a 10th grader made this "balls" as a invention and made other types of "balls" which are some type of "pentagony" shape. So, he took a 10 barrels and put water into it. At the first barrel, he put no balls. At the second barrel, he put the normal balls and the third one he put the pentagon type of balls. And left the water for 10 days straight. After he came back, the balls barrel lost 58% of the water due to evaporation, 36% in the no ball water, and finally, the pentagon shape ball reduced only 1% of the water. And now, these balls are being used in Los Angles Reservoirs.
