Disney/Pixar's Cars 3 opens in US theatres in 3D June 16, 2017.

Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician, Cruz Ramirez, with her own plan to win, plus inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage!

Cars 3 is directed by Brian Fee (storyboard artist “Cars,” “Cars 2“) and produced by Kevin Reher (“A Bug’s Life,” “La Luna” short).

Cars 3, more than an animation. The important thing was not to win. Cars 3 is the best animated film after Toy Story 3. I wish the movie was as dark and depressing as in the teaser trailer.

A perfect representation of Mcqueen's nightmare. He crashes himself, suspenseful ambience, intensifying heartbeat, grayish hue/colors throughout the entire video but the most chilling detail of all, the way the audience and the other racers are presented here. You can't see the eyes of the other racers and the audience is not moving and they either don't have or you can't see the pupils in their eyes. They're like lifeless representations of the originally lively cars in the movie. All of these details build up a scary nightmare perfectly set-up just for Mcqueen.

Just watched Cars 3 again and brought myself back to here. Like many of you, I grew up with the Cars franchise and to this day, they remain some of my favourite films. I think what could have been if only Cars 3 adopted the dark tone shown in the teaser. There was so much room for making developments regarding Lighting’s character and his relationships with those around him. Most importantly, the logical space left after the death of Doc Hudson could have easily been utilised more so than in the actual movie. Fan service is is great when done properly. Lighting coming to the end of his “golden age” should not have been overshadowed by Cruz. The chance to draw parallels with Doc and his end provoked by his crash was alluded to but not explicitly shown. It really is a shame when I think to what we could have got.

I hate the fact that they made the trailer seems like it's going on a dark topic for McQueen but all they did was basically yeet his self-development and replace him with Cruz. Like I get it, he's old and making him win is too cliche but if Cars 3 was the last movie then why didn't they just proceed to make him win?
