Yes for anyone who doesn’t know Kenpo is a hybrid style of Chinese Kenpo Kempo is Japanese and is a more linear straight style.
Kenpo It has Karate techniques but definitely has the trapping and pinning of hands from Chinese styles and the buckling done with the legs is very Baguazhang orientated.

Ed Parker called it Karate at the time as no one knew what Kung fu was.

About the slapping it is because if the strike misses we rebound it off our bodies violently using torque. It is a martial method or principle of martial arts. That is common in Chinese martial arts in general.
It’s also physics applied to a martial art situation.
Known in English as Silk Reeling using or issuing force from the ground up, like your torso is a spinning ball and our arms like a stick that hits it and flys off in this case. Towards the opponent or away from the body.

Again to all these ignorant comments, these are simply demonstrations not real combat, I guarantee the ones making these comments aren't martial artist at all.Kenpo works.Im a 5th Dan in Shito-Ryu and 1st Dan in Shotokan and ive improvised Kenpo into my style and it works.Im currently taking White Dragon Kenpo, its awesome and it works.

I saw a man do Kenpo in a street fight. The assailant came at the kenpo man. The kenpo man threw a snap kick to the groin. The assilant bent forward and the kenpo guy hit him with a bunch of hand, forearm, strikes, and groin kicked the guy, and followed with an ax kick knocking the guy face down.

by far, the best American Kenpo I have ever seen. It seems like mr Burgess has learned other MAs and insert them into his curriculum.
First reverse punch ever seen in AK clip also on 1:42 :)

The self-slapping is awesome, lol! Seriously though, he is lighting fast.

What is with the slapping? I don't see any penetration of strikes. Just speed and noise.

Kenpo practitioners control there strikes Kenpo is a dangerous style.
Think of all of those chaining combos on there own without the self defence techniques. It teaches you how to flow Kenpo is amazing for speed development speed equals power or force of impact. Trust me back in the day I threw a punch at my instructor fast and hard in a drill it collected him on the eyebrow bone my knuckle was ringing or vibrating he ended up with the most purple / black eye 👀 I had ever seen.

Block a real kick with your arm, you have no arm. Spent 30 + yrs in kempo . Made the mistake twice of blocking kick with arm no arm.

Well thats the poin. Someone is posing there and he s waving his arms and making all those sounds. I wanna see somebody do some defending and try to counter, intercept, attack. I believe then many moves, techniques will be exposed as useless.

Although I long for a world where I see true kenpo in mma or otherwise, I also realize it is not possible to overkill your opponent in such a way. This is only for the real world to defend yourself and others.

I like how they sped the recording up and added the sound effects. Why were they doing hubud lubud? That's FMA.

Much crisper techniques, than Tatum's version.
