“American Water Fern floats atop lakes/ponds and can fix nitrogen from the air. Once every decade or so it lights up a vernal pool at the Fort Ord National Monument bright red,” says BLM Botanist Bruce Delgado. Thanks Bruce for the location tip, and thanks Chris Meixelsperger for guiding me to it.

Nice video! (It's good that Fort Old NM is run by the BLM rather than the National Park Service, because the NPS has banned drones from National Parks/Monuments that it runs.) Do you have a GPS latitude, longitude for "Boy Scout Lake"? I'd like to go check it out (perhaps this Sunday), but Oil Well Road is quite long, and I'm not sure exactly where to find Boy Scout Lake.
