San Francisco District Attorney investigators have arrested the former head of a nonprofit accused of stealing money meant to fight crime.

Kyra Worthy, a resident of Richmond, has been charged with misappropriation of public money, grand theft by embezzlement, submitting fraudulent invoices, wage theft and writing fraudulent checks while she was the head of SF SAFE, a 48-year-old nonprofit aimed at enhancing safety and crime prevention in San Francisco through community organizing, prosecutors said.

Money was supposed to be used to fight crime. Was used by a criminal instead. Irony.

All San Francisco non-profits should be audited. She has lots of company.

Embezzlement of public funds should be a felony one charge. I'm sick of government adding regulations instead of locking these people up for life.
They usually get several years, but are out, replete with hidden funds to start stealing from the people somewhere else

Nonprofit is starting to mean tax evasion, embezzlement, and profit for management. As long as the problem persists, they keep getting gifts.

Probably just 1 of the many cases. SF lost billion of dollars of tax money each year.

Audit every nonprofit.
Audit every politician.
And maybe we could do some thing about our record-breaking national debt.

50 years of service times $700, 000 per year in swindling. This is a horrible company and why are non-profits not audited?

This happens with too many nonprofits. Plus many “nonprofits” pay their executives way too much money.
