A Friendly Tasca & Alentejo Poejo: ITS DELISH in Lisbon Portugal - EP 4

If you are hungry, you'll love what we uncover in our latest food tour of Lisbon. After eating several Sea bass dinners at Time Out Market that cost us 15 euros each, we got turned on to a local Tasca where the sea bass is served fresh and for under 8 euros. Did I mention it also comes with potatoes and salad?

A Tasca is a small, family-owned restaurant. It is characterized by its dark wood interior and traditional Portuguese dishes. These restaurants offer large portions of traditional food served on large aluminum platters at more than reasonable prices.

A friend turned us onto a great Tasca two minutes from Rossio Square called Restaurant Mondego.

With a satisfying smile on each of our faces, we walk around the corner to Casa do Alentejo. We try a digestive liquor called Poejo that is local to the Alentejo region of Portugal.

We stop to marvel inside the Moroccan square (famous on Instagram) and proceed to the taverna. We visit the store next door that sells goodies from the Alentejo region.

We are always on the hunt to discover new culinary adventures. Join us, and let's eat up the latest episode of Tourabunga's It's Delish together. Thanks for eating with us!

how awsome (and awkward 🤨) a traveled portuguese guy learn so much about is own country with a foreign couple youtube videos ...?? 🤩🤩🤩
i hope you bare in mind .. that your videos are not only seen for foreigners ... i´m preety sure lots of PT people love to see this videos mainly for 2 reasons:
1- to learn about our own country
2- to discover other perspective ... the perspective of a foreigner ...to feel the warmth and kindness you speak about it makes me feel so flattered (3:02) ...the reactions when you discover and unravel things that for us are normal... the comparisons you subconsciously (or not) sometimes do with US ... your apreciations, opinions and analisis of everything... i just love it.
keep up with the good work ...

PS- capital tip - when you eat grilled fish (except sardines)... its mandatory to eat it with thinly diced garlic and coriander ... plenty of olive oil .. and vinager...
This small detail makes the diference between grilled fish ...and a masterpiece on a table board 😉
Normaly they never bring it to the table .. you have to ask .. emphasize "thinly diced" ...
and remember ..vinager always first .. olive oil after ..

Loving your videos. My husband and I are moving there next year from Arizona...a desert not unlike Las Vegas! We're going to be there this November to scout for our apartment. Maybe we can grab a beer with you guys while we're there! Tourabunga!

Cook a Bacalhau fillet (desalted) for 10 min in hot water. Poach an egg in that water. Put a slice of Alentejo bread (2 days old) in the bottom of a soup dish. Smash a clove of garlic and a twig of poejo with no more than 5-6 leaves on top of the bread and pour generously some olive oil. Place the bacalhau over this base and place the egg on top and pour the (not so) boiling water over everything and let it stay for a couple of minutes. Break the egg and eat.

Nice to see you are still having a great time in Lisboa. I was wondering what you have been up to. I have added poejo to my bucket list of things to try when I make it to Lisboa. Ciao, for now!

As a portuguese living in the other side of the Tejo… only went once to Time Out… enough said 🤣🤣 look for places where portuguese eat, usually not fancy, most the times you get better value for your money.

Does YouTube analytics provide a tipsiness graph? If it does, I strongly suspect it will show an upwards trend since you've arrived in Portugal...
