Easy Yamaha DX7 Drawbar Organ Setup

Here's an easy way to set up the DX7 like a classic B3 organ. Although the factory E.Organ patch used a similar setup, two of the carriers where set to .50 and two at 1.00 for a detuned effect. This wasted two of the carriers that could be used as drawbars. Rather then having just a generic B3 organ patch, you can setup of the DX7 with settings like,688600000. When it's ran through effects it sounds fantastic.

You saved my rehearsal – I was unable to load organ patch via MIDI so I had to program it myself from the initial state of DX7's voice ❤

It's workable, I did this approach on my DX7 back in 1999 / 2000 when I was a poor college student. Ran it through a cheap tube pre-amp for grit and then a Motion Sound Pro3T rotary speaker. DX7 is a very versatile synth once you get to know the internals and the algorithms.

Fun fact: many 80s his with "organ" sounds were in fact the DX7. Think Bruce Springsteen and Dire Straits for starters.

Very cool. I'll have to try this on mine! BTW, I purchased your patches this month.
