Can we also just point out that... the HDD still isn't too bad. That's actually kind of impressive that it's not GTAV levels of 2 minute loading times per world.

i really like the fact that you dont get in a loading screen, keeps you engaged in the world

Very informative video, thank you man.

You can clearly see that SATA and NVME is a small difference, and that probably the biggest difference in this usecase comes from the available memory bandwith somewhere else.

The way ratchet freezes in mid air with his mouth open on the HDD lmao 0:59

My NVME drive had 7GB/s max tp and basically loads these levels in near-realtime. insane how far we have come

Nice of you to put the times.
Did you consider to make the same test but record the Disk read usage from HWinfo64 ? Like the speed used GB/s

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is what marketing is all about.

you notice the difference on Steamdeck as well between internal SSD and MicroSD.

Not surprised that there's virtually no difference between the SATA SSD and NVMe SSD. People buy NVMe SSDs, incorrectly thinking that they'll load way faster than SATA SSDs. Anyway, good video. I like that you label the drives properly; many don't.

Now try with a WD Black 10K RPM SATA HDD xD

All jokes aside, thanks for the comparison. Really neat and precise.

tht was actually impressive and it showed me that i dont really need an nvme drive if i have a good ssd cos i got this game yesterday and even though it loaded pretty fast i was curious if an nvme would make it instant but the difference is barely noticeable il still upgrade but now i see there isnt a real need to rush the upgrade i will wait for a sale

Would be nice to see how this compares next to the PS5 version?

Those with 4 DIMM motherboards, just go get 128GB of RAM and install the game on a RAMdisk

Would like to see the difference with PCIE Gen 5 vs Gen 4 vs Gen 3 drives.

Imagine you're speedrunning a game and get beat by multiple seconds everytime and can't see why, then it turns out it was the fkng storage the whole time

I reckon they start caching to RAM ahead of time with the HDD, you'd need a lot of RAM to do that though.
