they smile at someone’s funeral whether to ease their pain, or even think about their good memories if they did share any. :)

It’s also a nonverbal way of showing support. Seeing a flood of sad faces can make the bereaved feel more overwhelmed, but seeing a smile can ease some of that tension. A smile is also not in any way disruptive. Smiling during a eulogy isn't going to upset anyone, nor would it draw any unwanted attention to you

when my maternal grandfather died, at his funeral i smiled because he always loved my smile and wanted to always see it on me.

Laughing at a funeral is not mocking the dead person, It's probably a sign of trying to move on and only remember the good times

I remember when I once attended the memorial of the husband of my grandma's relative. I was feeling very sad at the start because he was a very good guy and I missed him, but the pope's singing was just so funny and not only that, but he also messed up his lines 2 times and I just walked quite far off into the graveyard to let the laugh out quietly. I still feel bad for this, but the thing was, I wasn't alone AT ALL!
