Egypt Welcomes BSAC | Daily Scuba News (W/ Shaun)

BSAC Egypt has now been born the contract was signed between BSAC and Blue Pearl Ltd of Hurghada which now trades as BSAC Egypt. The CEO Yasser Ragab has been working in the red sea for the past 17 years so BSAC Egypt already has some pedigree behind it which is an amazing move for the company… rather than starting from scratch.

I believe BSAC will provide great competition to the diving certification market, which might slow down the certification oligopoly and reduce the prices.

Lots of first hand stories, good vids here and there concerning some physics and a handy scuba Steve model to demonstrate the points being made. He shares the same opinions mark has made on particular subjects, but it’s a very small channel with a wealth of knowledge.

In my view, the syllabus for BSAC is a product of UK/northern european diving, whereas the syllabus from other agencies is probably more a product of tropical environments (no BSAC diver would ever bother looking beneath them before descending a shot line - there will be nothing to see) so it will be interesting to see if new divers take to the syllabus. Whilst the senior quals in all agencies are very similar, I think Ocean Diver is a very robust first qual which includes Nitrox and rescue skills without the need to pay for additional quals. My daughter will certainly be doing Ocean can train with whatever agency she likes after that.
