Back for a new year and new set of models reviews. To start out we are taking a look at an Airliner that has never gotten as much coverage of as many others have. Specifically, we are going to look at Atlantis' 1/135th scale Convair 990 kit.

The kit was always molded (by Revell) as you see it...open cockpit windshield, detent passenger windows. As far as details, it is not a Convair 990A, but similar to the prototype 990 before the problems were discovered that resulted in the modifications that made the 990A. The Eastern Express kit is far and away more representative of an accurate Convair 990A as it looked in 1963.

Oddball scales were normal for kits of this era, and, if you don't like the windows, fill them, and use the decals that are thoughtfully provided. The molds for this kit is are 60+-years-old, and used the technology and tooling of the time, so don't expect the moldings to meet current standards. It's pure nostalgia for those who built it when they were kids.

I saw your review last week, i figured id wait till i got my kit before i replied to your shallow, dissmissive review.
This review was the first of yours i came across...i was thinking this is this guy's first review. Sadly you purport yourself as a skilled modeler.

The kit is old and shows its age, but Atlantis is doing a great job bringing these old kits back.
My advice to you is to stick to modern kits. .
I almost want to flag this vid for disinformation.
My kit fits together well, the cockpit windows can be easily filled with micro crystal kleer..
