- Abstract:
The Azure SQL DB Performance, Monitoring and Optimization presentation is designed to equip data professionals with the ability to monitor, troubleshoot and optimize workloads in Azure SQL DB and Azure SQL Managed Instance.

During this session we will review tools and resources available on Azure to monitor and troubleshoot your workloads in Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Database Managed Instance. We will identify, review and monitor CPU, IO and other metrics and levels used by workloads. In addition to this, we will explore Azure tools used for monitoring resource metrics, database advisors and Query Performance Insight for query tuning recommendations and query performance analysis.

In conclusion, attendees will be better equipped to identify and understand performance problems and devise an optimization solution for in Azure SQL DB and Azure SQL Managed environments.

Sam Mesel is Sr Customer Engineer with Microsoft. Sam has been working with SQL Server since the early 90s in many capacities, and in the last few years Sam has started to focus on other data services provided on Azure, like: Databricks, Log Analytics, others.
