Very important: “Vous” isn’t only use for the plural of “tu/you”. It is a must to use “vous” instead of “tu” when talking to an unfamiliar person, an older person, your boss etc... ‘tu” is very familiar so anyone that isn’t your friends, family, or colleague, you should use “vous” when talking to them otherwise it is considered very rude and way too familiar. A person will tell you if you can address them with the familiar “tu”. This is a very important rule in France. Wise words from a French friend living in the US.

This video is great! I love how we can hear at a normal speed as if someone is talking and then breaking it down slowly so I can hear how each word is pronounced. It’s perfect.

Languages don’t come easy for me. In grade school we were taught French for 30 minutes a day three times per week. I never spoke it again until I started taking French classes at night as an adult, mostly for recreational travel. I wasn’t that good at it. Later I was travelling often in Africa so I learned a little Swahili, enough to humour the ladies selling their fruits, vegetables and bread rolls in the various markets and villages in East Africa. Not even close to conversational but sure had fun with it while travelling. Still later in life I started learning Spanish. I went a lot further with Spanish taking classes at work and in evening classes. Twice I lived with a family and attended Spanish school, once in Spain and once in Mexico. I actually got somewhat comfortable with basic conversations, no where near fluency but better than the average tourist. I felt pretty good about my learnings until two things happened to bring me crashing back to earth. On one trip to France I answered the waiter perfectly … in Spanish! Another time in Spain I answered in French! Quite humorous to me and I still have fun with it while on vacation. I’m in my mid sixties now and watching many French language videos to prepare for a trip next spring, hopefully Covid will be under control by then.
