After owning Cambridge Audio CXC Transport for a few years, I took a HUGE gamble and bought Jay's Audio CDT-MK3 and did some listening today. Jay's Audio blew my mind. Being in this audio hobby for 30+ years, I thought CD transport do not make a huge difference. I thought they simply carry 1's and 0's to the DAC. Jay's Audio CDT2-MK3 opened my eyes (and ears).
This unit blows away Cambridge CXC out of the water by a huge margin. That's no exaggeration. The detail is so detailed, that my speakers sound different (Q Acoustics Concept 500s). I cannot imagine what their flagship CDT3-MK3 sounds like. But that's way out of my price range. I seriously recommend Jay's Audio, this product may stun you!

My Audiolab 6000CDT will stay with me forever. At its price point, it owes me nothing and I personally believe that it delivers what’s on the disc as well as I’ve heard anything else. As a reference for red book and something to have available when needed, it’s a great piece. Good quality Kimber RCA coax into either my chord or ps audio dac’s, I don’t feel like I miss out on anything with the lack of aes/ebu or iis outputs.

I owned one of these for a while, and it was very very good , Great sound and built like a tank

Denon DCD-3560. Built like a tank. I use its analog and coaxial outputs to feed my PMA 2500NE. I know it is not your level but I am completely pleased. I also have DCD-1520AE (sounds great as transport) and 3313UD. But definitely the 30yrs old DCD-3560 beast is my love. :) KSS-151A never dies and much faster than CDM4. I also have swing arm Philips based player, but quite slow seek times... based on its nature (CDM4 again).

Sorry if I missed it but for someone that’s starting from scratch, what was the price difference between your modified APPO and the J

Confused - so which then is the reason for returning the unit - the long burn-in issue or the ack of space ? Why bother getting it if spacwe was going to be a problem. As you mentioned in this video the May dac also required a long burn-in, and you're okay with that, doesn't quite add up.

You definitely should try Audio Note CDT3 or 4 or 5. The one that is for your budget. They are all gamechanging

If looking for a superb sacd/cd player - Denon dcd-A110. Really high powered, solid machine. Just one peek inside the player you can see the level of care and component quality (look at website for photo). Also made in Japan with 5yr warranty.

Interesting video. A little miffed how a modified multi-format player could be better than a dedicated transport. But, the world has it's mysteries.
I use my CEC TL0 and Wadia WT3200 transports (slightly older models now, I know) to great effect. The golden era of digital. It simply does not get much better.

Did you use the I2S connection? It’s a significant improvement over the other connections.

Hi guys. I know I am very late to the party but I have a question and would appreciate anyone's views.
I just picked up a Jay's Audio Cd2 Mk2 second hand in mint condition which I like very much. I am feeding it via I2S to my Denafrips Terminator Plus Dac. I can purchase the upgrade kit which takes it to MK 3 spec for around £700. As far as I can see the main advantage, apart from a dimmable screen is the better, oven controlled clock. Now the Terminator Plus already has a excellent oven controlled clock, so will upgrading the transport make a significant difference to sound quality? Any thoughts welcome. It's just a shame you can't slave the transport to the Denafrips clock.

My Rotel RCD 965BX shed a tear when you said your Oppo was old at 7

Amazing transport! It was a big upgrade to the CXC and Audiolab in my system. Also tried the Qstab, but found no noticable improvement. An audio reviewer friend found the same result FWIW. That friend now has the Pro-Ject RS2 and it's probably the best you can get.

Need help! Hello. Audio Note: The CD 2.1x Mk I the first one. Will it work with my Sudgen A21 SE Signature integrated or my Sudgen HA-4 headphone preamplifier or my Exposure 3010 s2d preamplifier or my Exposure 2510 integrated or my Cambridge Audio A500 because of these 100 kOhm impedance I suppose no amp of mine has. I would be a blind buy for 1150 eur. Regards. Jeff.
