2023 BMW i4 eDrive35: Is This A Worthy Tesla Competitor?

I test drove the tesla 3 and ended up buying the BMW i4 35. It's more comfortable, easier to drive and definitely more of a luxury feel. Love the BMW and it comes with two years free charging with Electric America.

Just a note, on the BMW i4 in the UK for 2024 models there is no gear changer, it's a small lever for forward, reverse, and neutral/park.

The range number you said you achieved seems to match eDrive40 -- are you sure it wasn't a 40 that you drove for that time?

I’d pick the bmw, mainly for the ride quality and because they don’t screw customers over by announcing huge price drops in Jan 23 after convincing everyone to take delivery in Dec 22, like Tesla.

I have a Model 3 and I am going to jump on the i4 as soon as possible. I really miss having a moon roof that opens and also having normal controls in the car. Operating the screen while driving is definitely more difficult in a Tesla than using BMW's system. The only thing holding BMW back is the charging network. Tesla's superchargers are unrivaled, but once BMW can charge up on the network, I don't see any reason to own the Tesla any longer.

I like the regular car feeling of the i4 vs. the Tesla. I wonder if BMW batteries & systems will last for many miles like Tesla's have proven to.

Not really a competitor to Tesla apart from both being EVs. The I4 is half a class better in a lot of areas, actually (which also reflects in the price)

It's funny you mentioned this being compared to the Model 3 because that's what I'm currently trying to decifer for my first car. For me it's between the quality/luxury of the i4 and the the self driving capability of tesla. I am stuck in a bind, if i choose one i give up the other!!
