Much as been said about EU's newest tool, but what does it mean and where is this compass leading the bloc?

I would rather have a controversies of allies units protecting common interest, on my grounds, from the perspective of their own point of interest, rather than artificial, federal organ designed to protect centralized power. Previous attempts of aggregating power in Europe failed, and no common enemy was ever able to justify such project. The Vikings didn't, Greeks, Galls, Muslims, Jews, nor will Migrants. Sure, someone will capitalize on it, as always, but the project will fail as it always does.

I think with the threat of Russia, China, North Korea, Syria, Turkey and Iran ever present this could be an excellent idea.
