This Is more a tutorial on how to reduce Charlis sound into a formula that would probably sell records. I’m seeing this misconception in the mainstream view of Charli now that her music is shallow and simple because they don’t know where to place her in a mainstream context. Her music is a celebration and commentary on pop music, it’s self aware of what it’s doing and treats its source with respect even when it’s aware of pop musics ridiculousness and simplicity at times. Because it might be ridiculous but it made you feel something and connect to something so there’s something deeper happening at the same time that it’s simple and ridiculous or ‘commercial’. Charli, AG Cook and Sophie were super innovative and visionary and way more complex than people probably understand. Which is fine lol. The beats go hard.
