My experience and decision process for having major spinal surgery in Thailand versus back in my home country, where I have full insurance waiting for me. I had three choices- to have the surgery in my home city, at a specialist facility in the USA or in Bangkok, Thailand. I talk about costs each way and quality of care, and the overall experience.

I am recovering for a civil, pneumonia, asthma combo. Spent first 3 months at local government hospital icu then moved to a ran hospital. Nursing was great at the lost 2 places with nursing checks every 30 minutes . With the doctor checking with my wife regularly. . I lost 30 kg+ and can’t walk. My doctor got us physical therapist and. expect to be walking soon. I’m 83 years old. I also have 40+ years experience in health care and am convinced Thai health care saved my life. When you are older, healing takes so much longer, at 62 I'm a little ahead of you there. Be patient and don't rush anything, let it heal naturally at it's own pace so as to give yourself the best chance of a full recovery.
