Before Master Chief was kidnapped as a kid he saved a girl from drowning and promised to marry her when he was older, she later became an Oni asset because of an injury she had leaver her unable to remember anything prior to her injury; erasing her memory ever 72 hours. She still keeps a photo of her and John as children and even met Chief before but has no memory of it and never learned it was John. She still believed he died when his flash clone passed away. One of the most tragic stories in halo imo. Even if John was allowed to tell her she wouldnt remember it anyways.
