You're a heartfelt tribute to one of America's greatest drivers was spot on. I too had the opportunity to experience the presence of Dan Gurney, his grace and humbleness up close. As a former editor of a leading enthusiast magazine Dan came over to my house in Orange County, California to talk about the new generation of hot-rodder. For two hours Dan, my wife, and I simply talked about today's cars and what they mean to the next generation enthusiast. Thank you for sharing this wonderfully produced story.

What a beautiful and lovely tribute that needed to be said. I'm not one to mark anniversaries of one's passing, but I am glad this one eventually found its way to me. I have one quibble with it though. Marshall, you've written and shared a lovely tribute. It's a personal thank you note but shared with us. It's a great example why you are important to our sport. You say that you wouldn't be a blip in motorsports history? My friend I've never met except in print or on my screen you are the radar the shows us all the blips to pay attention to. You locate the touchstones we need to touch, the voices we need to hear, the figures and events we need to see and experience, and the how and why they work the way they do. Without the guide to guide us we wouldn't know what's out there. For me (and my supposed non-fan wife) it's you and Robin Miller. Thanks for the guidance. The words "legend" and "gentleman" are too often thrown around casually. Dan Gurney was both a legend, and a gentleman in the truest sense.

Dan was one of the best. Driver, owner &designer. Dan did it all it didn't matter what he drove f1, indycar or nascar he could drive anything. All race fans will always remember how good he was.

Excellent narrative, while working on an appraisal of a Gurney Alligator, a privilege in itself, took the time to listen and watch - I believe the keywords which rarely go together are Grace and Innovators - a rare combination.
