Welcome to the Phasmophobia Dev preview! In this video we are going to talk about the roadmap for 2022 and 2023. The developers are planning a ton of AWESOME new updates that I cannot wait to see! CJ mentioned awhile back on Reddit that the goal of the reworks is to separate Phasmophobia from the Unity Assets that are found in dozens of other horror titles. They want Phasmophobia to have a unique identity.

Which to me is a reasonable thing for a developer to want. And I think players will find they want it too when they play it. Imagine if every phasmophobia map came with the care and attention to detail put into Maple Lodge. I agree new maps would be nice but so would reworks.

“No plan survives contact with the enemy.” I personally really really appreciate it when devs are willing to push back a scheduled plan in order to make the game the best it can be. And they’re keeping everyone up to date! The devs being so in touch with the community is genuinely awesome.

I totally agree with them adding more small maps. Honestly, I just like to play Tanglewood and Willow and Edgefield on a regular day. Would be so good if you had more of this kind.

I had a music performance and got home 10min ago and got ready to sleep in record speed and sat down exactly as I got the notification. I will never miss a inysm phasmo video unless I have no choice.

horror 2.0 is the one im waiting the most, its been months since i got really scared by this game tbh, dont get me wrong i love this game i love the way it plays and i love how uncheap its scare tactics are but i would definetly wanted to get scared more rn

I’d love to see them put the environmental sound effects on all the maps. I really liked how things echo on asylum and it’s a shame that maps like high school and prison don’t have that.

I should really mention that on lower end PC's the game is forced to look potato.
An update to optimization could REALLY up the player base. And the increase to graphics quality is also quite nice for the higher end PC's.
Reminder that us players and content creators are limited on what we know that goes on behind the scenes.
Be patient, one smaller update after a giant update is expected y'know? Just cut a bit of slack.

Really the only other map that I feel might need a rework is Brownstone High School. Its almost in the same boat as asylum, too big in some ways and not enough variety in the rooms.

I do agree with Insym on having lots of maps, I feel like they keep reworking the current maps a lot throughout updates rather than pumping out small maps here and there. It would be really fun to see tons of map choices when you load up the map on the game. The ultimate goal should be to make Insym's all map speedruns 5 or more hours long.

So, URP means Universal Render Pipeline which is a render pipeline within unity which hugely optimizes and enhances the project. Right now they are probably using the Built-in Render Pipeline, which is the standard pipeline most unity games use. Hopefully URP will increase performance on lower end PCs.

Going off of Insym's final comments about an investigation vs Exorcism, I can get behind that idea however i feel it could be built into phasmophobia or if needed phasmo 2, but have both investigation and exorcism, my idea is if you complete a investigation contract and find out that ghost type etc, you then get a exorcism contract at that same place and the ghost will have the same name etc and you do the exorcism part of it, that way its separate and you aren't forced into doing both if you don't want to exorcise the ghost

Phamophobia: First Team - Investigation of past of the house to get Name of Ghost, if it responds to solo or groups, etc.
Phasmophobia: Second Team - Current Game. Investigate and find the type of ghost.
Phasmophobia: Third Team - Exorcism based on first two teams work

Imagine if more games had this level of transparency from the developers and feedback from it's community, this game is absolutely a rare gem and I appreciate this level of passion and commitment from both the developers and players to make this game the best in can be within reason. This is Early Access DONE RIGHT.

I have an idea... maybe they can implement a random map contract to do more challenges. Like this they can wait more to implement new maps

I want some lore for the missions, it would be cool to have something for every ghost, like the first time you encounter a type of ghost to have something happen or some event, or some backstory of the ghost for some rare specific missions, or to have a lore to the broken screens in nightmare mode like a really dangerous famous ghost

It would be cool if the community could create and publish their own maps. A bit like custom zombies for Call Of Duty!

I'm so glad the devs are really taking the time to iron things out and release a good, functional update. This is an amazing team, and I'm excited as hell to see how things turn out.
