If slaughterhouses are humane and the way we kill the animals we eat is ethical, then why don’t we take the animals we love to slaughterhouses when they’re euthanised?

After all, we want our companion animals to be euthanised in the most humane way possible and for their wellbeing to be the number one priority, which is exactly what we’re told happens to animals in slaughterhouses.

Yet, if someone tried to euthanise our companion animals by putting them in gas chambers and by cutting their throats, not only would we try to stop them, but they would be arrested for animal cruelty. So according to our laws and societal standards, killing animals in slaughterhouses is both an example of being kind and humane to animals and also an example of animal cruelty that you would be arrested for.

The fact that we wouldn’t want the animals we love to be killed in slaughterhouses demonstrates to us that we already recognise that what happens in slaughterhouses is the opposite of humane.

I have worked in a slaughterhouse, and the animals know what is happening, which is why they panic and try to escape.
That was November 1980 and I only managed to last there for two weeks. I stopped eating meat as a result, and have now been Vegan for 32-years.
If anyone ever tells you that slaughterhouses are humane and that the animals don't suffer, call them a liar to their face. I have been there and could tell you so much more if you really wanted to know; but of course their profit comes above all else, so they really don't care about the animals beyond how much money they can make from them.

People dont uderstand the video. Its not even about eating meat, definitely not about eating pets. All hes saying in this video is that slaughterhouses aren't humane. If something is humane it wouldnt be a problem to do to your pet.

As my dad always says: "Because cows, chickens etc. were created for us to eat, that's their purpose in life, that's God's rule."

Perhaps it's because if it's not in their faces for them to have to look at and investigate, they won't, especially when they are responsible for the horrid problem in the first place. The attitude is..."If I don't look it's not there" They're escape artists.

And you n3ver consider for a moment all the insects and animals killed tearing up the ground to produce your plants. Or those killed by insecticides. You don't even consider the plants themselves who we now know have a form of communication within its species. Unfortunately in this life it requires that life is taken to sustain life. Apparently you don't have a clue of how violent nature is in taking life. That's just it you have no clue.
