omg they literally followed the same chord progression, but so does a billion other songs. literally take a course on music theory, it’s what makes music so beautiful. it’s the interpretation of the chords and how an artist utilized it, both clearly very different songs.

Taylor’s Wildest Dreams and Lana’s Without You sound similar but doesn’t mean one copied the other. This dude does seem to go for Olivia more than for any other artists.

ooh nice catch! what i caught is a melody from martika’s “toy soldiers” from way back in the late 80s. that chorus “step by step, heart to heart…” has evolved and inspired many younger artists for their own musics: eminem in 2004, jessie j in 2014, now olivia in 2023. it also reminds of delta goodrem’s “in this life” (2007). regardless, “get him back!” is still a certified bop to my ears. it’s just kinda sad how the internet builds the plagiarism and imaginary “beef with taylor” narratives excessively around her career. i can see olivia feels deeply about how the sounds she heard in her childhood and is strongly influenced by them. she’s just such a romanticist for the 2000s pop songs and i kinda respect her for it. artists can interpolate or be inspired by other artists all the time. as a middle millennial who enjoys musics from any generation, it pains me seeing how people treat music like some kind of a generational exclusivity. let gen z artists shine. we won’t be going anywhere if the conversation keeps going around in circle. if you like the music, enjoy it. if not then accept that it’s not for you and just kindly walk away.

It's good that you show that, cuz credit should be giving where credit is due

he's not tryna cancel her, the caption literally says "does anyone think of this song when they hear this?", he's not claiming olivia is copying anyone, calm down 😭😩

I think these songs sound nothing like each other, this guy has always been calling out Olivia for copying other artists like he can write something like her
