A natural waterway created by Superstorm Sandy could soon close. Sand is filling in what used to be a massive breach on Fire Island. A decade ago, CBS2's Carolyn Gusoff first told us about the newly created inlet, and she returned by boat Thursday.

It's interesting that no one is mentioning that maybe we should put more effort into stopping the pollution that drains into the bay/water.

If it made such a big help in the bay why not dredge it and maintain it every ten years?

Why the hell not take sand away? You build dams and you divert rivers, why not dredge it and take away the sand.

Use to love flying over that during flight training. Then a thought came to my head.. Jaws unleashed 😆.

If the water quality and wildlife are better they should put in jetties to keep it open. Or put in big pipes to allow the water to flow.

If you get a good rain dancer to produce some serious rain it’ll rip that sand right the hell out of there and open it up back to 20 feet 🦶🏿

Thinking about the recent arrest of that monster R.H. in the serial killings at Gilgo Beach and Fire Island area in Long Island of how many secrets may have been washed out to sea forever.

people think they know best. they read a book. saw a video. now they know. but they don't know. smart people know how stupid they are but fools proclaim genius.

The inlet made a beautiful area. The person I lived with died.I got kicked out of his home.
And the lawyers and the creeps beach house and beach got washed away.
That was the " restricted " beach. For Bellports white only.No blacks, no Jews no homosexuals .And possibly no Italian.Bellport golf clue was the same.Very very unlike today
