Coronavirus: India overtakes Russia in Covid-19 cases - BBC News

India has recorded more than 24,000 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, taking its total above that of Russia.

The country now has the third-largest number of confirmed cases in the world, 697,413. There have been 19,693 deaths.

The latest surge in numbers has also been powered by a rise in cases from a handful of southern states, including Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

India reopened shopping centres, places of worship and offices a month ago.

For the last three days, India's caseload has galloped at an alarming rate, adding more than 20,000 daily infections per day.

1st she said some of the death are not recorded as covid cause.
But at the end she said the amount of death is far lower than recorded.

India is fighting better against this pandemic with it's limitations. The situation of India is very different when it compared to other countries.
Having large population with lot of poor and uneducated people, even now India is trying to stay strong.

Its a matter of time we took over USA as well considering our population and limitation of maintaining lock down. We have to learn to live with the virus. Social isolation and feeding family does not go hand to hand in india.

Other than showing total number of cases, BBC should show the current active cases. But they won't as active cases currently wont be a spice from them to sprinkle upon india's reputation. Bbc channel has far declined the expectations from it after showing false, wrong or incomplete news. This is the case in india but there is no mention in the news that despite 7 lakh cases in india, more than half i.e. around 5 lakh people have already recovered. The state where i live has 81% recovery rate. Why do these news channels have to make a news out of simpler situations and why do such a global channel has to hide the complete news? In delhi also the conditions are being better by and by and more than half of the cases have already being recovered.
