Solo hiking and backpacking into the Sabrina Basin of the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains in California. I camped at Blue Lake and hiked up to Midnight Lake and Hungry Packer lake within the Sabrina Basin, Inyo National Forest, Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains, California, United States of America.

My Hiking & Backpacking Gear (paid links):

Fishing Gear (paid links):

From USDA.GOV: Climbing the hillside on the south side of Sabrina Lake, the trail leads to a series of high alpine meadows and lakes in Sabrina Basin surrounded by glacier flanked 13,000 ft. granite peaks. Many day hikers enjoy visiting Blue Lake (2.5 miles). If hikers continue on the trail it will take them to Dingleberry, Hungry Packer, and Midnight Lakes. The side trail to Donkey and Baboon Lake is more rugged and is not recommended for stock. Beyond Blue Lake, bear canisters are the only practical way to store food due to the lack of tall trees. Common Destinations: Sabrina Basin, Blue Lake, Hungrey Packer, , Midnight Lake

I have a wife with several health issues and can not do my dream trips right now. Your videos give me a way to realize the dreams I have of backpacking in MY favorite place... The Sierras! Your videos through the years has been elevated by 10000 points. I also love the way you give all the details at the end! Truly awesome man!

I was researching some hikes to do in this area for my 50th birthday and watched your Chocolate Lakes video and was so impressed (and inspired) I watched this one too and decided to actually do this one as well. I ended up day hiking Big Pines Lakes Loop, Chocolate Lakes Loop, and this one out to Hungry Packer and Midnight Lakes in consecutive days October 16th, 17th, and 18th. (38 miles 8.5k elevation gain) The weather (I scored) was unseasonably warm (low 80's) and there wasn't a cloud in the sky the whole time I was there. They were the 3 BEST hikes I've ever done. I watched your videos over and over while I was doing "step ups" in my apartment as prep. They are very well done and totally inspiring my friend. Thank you.

One of the absolute most beautiful trails I have ever viewed! Almost brings tears to my eyes, it’s so gorgeous.

I did this exact trip five years ago, and seeing this video made me want to go back! The Sabrina Basin is so amazingly gorgeous. Also I remember not being able to find the trail to Midnight Lake when I was there, but maybe I was just tired lol. Great footage as always, and thanks for sharing!

The behind-the-scenes portion was VERY helpful. Personally, I prefer no music in hiking videos. I love to hear nature's music: The wind, water, bird song and crunch of shoes on trail. But beautiful video. Thanks

That “Hungry Packer” lake is really something. I remember fishing Sabrina and watching packers heading up that trail thinking I gotta get up there. Well now I’m ready! Nice video.

Really enjoyed the video of the upper lakes in Sabrina Basin. I have been to Lake Sabrina but not the upper lakes. This is one of your best videos. Thanks.

Another great video. Love Hungry Packer Lake and if you don't want to go far for spectacular scenery, Blue Lake is a shirt and beautiful destination.

Your comments on the campsites you spotted on the one lake was helpful, as well as advising against going off trail at the other lake, I don't remember which one, but even looking at the terrain on video it didn't look passable.

Great tips.

You really captured the beauty of this area. Your cinematography and storytelling standout amidst all the other hiker videos I've seen...and, I watch a lot of hiking videos :)) I solo hiked for a week in the Sierras this past autumn and now I can't wait to return this summer.

Man I used to watch your videos like a year ago & then lost touch. Absolutely beautiful!! Heading up to Lone Pine n Bishop end of March but pretty sure won’t be able to hike the Sabrina Basin. Could still be packed with snow and the 168 may be closed 😞.

Yeah, the rap up's great, what's not to like. Someday your vids will be the go-to for preparedness.
