7:35 ideally you set your eq flat and tune your sub on the amp to compliment your existing speakers. Then you can use your amps remote bass control to boost the lows. By following my method you will actually be able to turn your system up louder because you will not be taxing your factory speakers with excessive lows (which draw a lot of power and will cause distortion). This is generally what it says to do in the manual for the sub.

If you are not getting the lows you want like this it may be that you tapped in to the wrong factory speaker working (which may be for a smaller speaker that doesn’t carry as much bass).

I did similar installation on my x3 and my sub is in storage compartment like yours however I managed to buy second hand shelve and cut 10"hole with nice grill on it. The base box can breathe and sound is much better compared when it was sealed.

Dude you are the greatest. I installed the hanshow harness that I been procrastinating on and while it does sound better than before it definitely makes it known the bass is lacking I did the same sub setup as the video and I must say for sub $250 for both the harness and sub I'm very happy and impressed. Definitely wouldn't have known if it wasn't for you. 👌🏻

Just followed your instructions to the tee. Ordered the speaker from Walmart for $199. Also got the Haofy Speaker Activation Wire Harness from Amazon for my 2021 Model 3 for $25. It took about 20 minutes to install the harness and another hour for the kicker sub. The sound is amazing! I have a 2022 Model Y with premium sound, and it sounds the same if not better with the extra bass. Just a heads up, when you reconnect the Tesla power, it takes about a minute or two for the computer to turn back on. I was scared at first when there was no power after connecting, but when it finally turned on, I was so happy, lol. Thanks for the review; it was super simple and a lot cheaper than buying a factory sub panel install.

Thank you so much for the video to help me quite a bit to install my subwoofer. I did pretty much identical work and followed your instructions and it did work. The only thing that I saw that was a little concerning was that the subwoofer stays on for at least 30 minutes until the car shuts down completely and it stays on standby mode with the red light. I'm not sure if that's correct or should I rewire something

Thanks for the video. I just inatalled the harness and sub (this one) tonight and it worked out well. The only thing i had to do was connect the left and right signals from the amp harness to the signal i tapped (not just right to right and leave the left input blank; it wouldnt power the amp otherwise).

This little sub and amp packs a decent punch. Great value and space.

Wont this void warrenty? If you take it in for any electrical problem, they are just going to blame it on the aftermarket install

Hi @Teslamonial if I understand correct, you are not using both channels, only one, even that this Kicker had L and R, one pair is blank with no connection from Hansshow harness?

The subwoofer size will fit perfectly in the Highland trunk compartment

However the wire harness needed...which one is???

did the handle the 15-16 volts from Tesla's battery

what gauge is the positive and ground wires did you use to connect to the battery?
also, do you disconnect 12V and HV batteries during installation???

I’m about to do this upgrade. I have a 2023 model 3 and was having trouble finding the right harness because Amazon only has 2022 and under. I found one on hans website for about 100 bucks
