I love Buffalo!!! Canisius High School & U of B Graduate as well as career product  of WBEN radio and WGR-TV. Had so much fun there during my formative years (pre 1960's). Left there in 1965 to seek fame & fortune in warmer climes, but a part of me never left WNY. Visit there when time allows.and always enjoy it!!

45 years since I left when my father retired and we moved to Florida. I was 15 years old. What did I do 40 years later? Bought my childhood home in Amherst as a vacation place. The roots of Buffalo never leave you. Now if I could just shake off my undying allegiance to the Buffalo Bills!

This is Great! As a Buffalo transplant (25 years now) I have always LOVED what Buffalo has to offer...I especially love our "Rush 1/2 Hour"!!! OK an hour in the winter...sometimes.

Job well done!  I knew  a large amount of the history that was provided but to see it and hear it in one quick video was just amazing!  To all who  have pioneered before and to those who are working so hard to keep Buffalo moving forward,  you have my full admiration.  My hope is that my life's path takes me back home to Buffalo someday...My return to the city and area that I truly love. If you add in the FIRSTS from Moog, Taylor Devices, Carborundum, Bell Aerospace, Pierce Arrow, Westinghouse, and schools like UB, Buffalo State, & Canisuis College you would have a one hour video that would only scratch the surface.

On a cold winter day, many many years ago, someone visiting buffalo from the south casually remarked to a native Buffalonian "Cold enough for ya?" and that native Buffalonian looked that other man dead in the eyes, holding his gaze for several seconds and uttered a clear, concise "No", then got to work. A few months later, the Air Conditioner was invented.

So many nice historical photos in the video...Would have been nice if they were not flashed for a split second (a lot of them)..

I believe in 1965 Kevlar fabric was invented in DuPont plant in Tonawanda by Stephanie Kwolek (Chwalek).
Kevlar is used in many applications like tires (Dunlop across street), bulletproof vests, boats, formula one cars, cut resistance gloves, helmets, fireproof clothing. It's 5 time stronger than steel.
