Grilling tips with @bunningswarehouse

With a few more months of hot weather (aka BBQ weather), I thought I’d share my top tips for grilling in partnership with @bunnings.
#1 - use a charcoal starter and fire lighters to start charcoal, it's way faster!
#2 - invest in good quality charcoal, it will burn hotter for longer.
#3 - get a grill basket, it's a great tool when cooking veggies or smaller proteins like prawns.
#4 - get a digital food thermometer to take the guesswork out of how your meat is cooked, the numbers don't lie.
#5 - keep your grill clean! Once you have finished cooking, give it a good brush and let it cool for a while, wipe the lid with BBQ wipes then apply some oil ready for next time.

Try and use wire free brushes. There's been cases where stray left over wires getting stuck in peoples stomachs causing damage, pain, or even death.

I agree with everything except the wire brush. Those brushes from Bunny’s deteriorate and end up leaving the filaments on the grill, making it into your food. Instead, put on a leather glove and use a stainless scourer

Yes, it is so hot here. I love my 5 degrees C outside.

I am so hyped to see andy using the chargriller Akorn. I love those things so much. Best charcoal grill out there in my opinion. They don't last forever like a true ceramic egg, but in my opinion they are far better insulated and more efficient. Temperature control is very stable and easy once you figure out where to set the vents. Absolute best grills for their value.

Use a wooden scraper rather than a wire brush for cleaning. Some lower quality brushes can lose the bristles and i doubt anyone wants that in their food.

Bang on with the cleaning tips. Also the oiling whilst a great season, is the ideal thing to prevent rust forming on grills

Onion is excellent to clean the grill too. In argentina is much used.

Never use a wire brush. They can shed the tiny wires and the wires get in your food.

I would use a wood scrubber vs the wire brush. People have had serious issues with wires embedding in their throat.

My sister worked at Home Depot but went and lived in Australia with her girlfriend for 6 months. When she came back she wore her bunnings hat at work at Home Depot and no one even knew the irony. I still giggle to this day

I always forget that Andy is Australian and that the seasons in Australia are reversed from us in the northern hemisphere.
