A rare Russia-U.S. dialogue was held over the phone amid the ongoing Ukraine war. The Russian Defence Minister, Sergei Shoigu, had direct contact with the U.S. Secretary of Defence, Lloyd Austin, said the Putin administration. The two leaders "discussed the situation in Ukraine" over the phone. The Pentagon said that they emphasized the importance of maintaining lines of communication amid the ongoing conflict. This is only the second phone call between Russia and the U.S. since the Ukraine war began. The last phone call between Shoigu and Austin was reported in May. Watch this report for full details.
