Talk by Professor Sarah Pedersen of Robert Gordon University, sharing an 'Introduction to Scottish Suffrage (1860-1916)' including information about the women involved, and how it differed from the English movement.

Sarah Pedersen is Professor of Communication and Media at Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. She is course leader for the MSc in Journalism and also serves as the University’s Gender Equality Champion. Her research focuses on women’s use of the media for political purposes, using both contemporary and historical sources. Her book, 'The Scottish Suffragettes and the Press', was published by Palgrave in 2017, while October 2020 will see the publication of her latest book, The Politicization of Mumsnet (Emerald). She was the Director of Rise Up Quines!, a festival celebrating the centenary of (some) women achieving the vote in 2018 and is a member of the board of directors of Grampian Women’s Aid.
