Mike Rugnetta is going to tell you stories of death, destruction, divine judgment, damnation, and the occasional happy ending. That's right, this week we're talking about the Apocalypse. Actually, we're talking about a bunch of ways the world could end. Prepare for stories of the end times from Judaism, Zoroastrianism, Christianity, and Islam! It's the (mostly) Abrahamic Apocalypses on Crash Course World Mythology.

I liked the story from the slam. They give you a chances to turn yourself around till the last second, something I never caught on other apocalyspes.

"Glob only knows when..."
Nice subtle Adventure Time reference.

"Lake of sperm aside..."
Well there's something you don't hear too often. Although I must admit at first I heard:
"Lake of spermicide..."
I can't decide which sounds worse...

This comment section. Honestly I didn't have much expectations for it. Contains the average amounts of over-zealous athiests, people pisstaking on islam/christianity, wannabe preachers, and my personal favorite, random comments about where the green brothers at.

Thanks for pointing out that the Muslim apocalypse story your presented is from a particular hadith and that Muslims do not consider Hadith as reliable as Qoran (besides, some Hadiths are more reliable than others). As a Muslim I don't belive half of the elements of the story you presented, but this did not bother me: it is crashcourse mythology after all, not religion studies, and we ARE looking for a good story here.

On a another subject, I thought the Christian apocalypse includes four "apocalypse horsemen" or something of the kind. Was I mistaken?

You failed to mention something rather significant. The numbers used in the Hebrew/Christian and Islam religions had very specific metaphorical meanings to them. In fact, pretty much everything in those stories was symbolic and not meant to be taken literally.

I understand that time constraints make impractical any kind of deeper analysis on most topics, but you could have at least made a comment on that fact in passing, as it's key to avoiding misunderstandings.

Just a little revision about islamic apocalypse belief: acc. to islam the universe will be destroyed as a whole, not just the earth, all of planets, systems, galaxies-the all of conceivable physical spaces & places. And the new life (heaven & hell) will be in an other cosmos.

Can you please explore concepts of hell across different religions? I'm specifically interested in Tibetan Buddhism.

I remembered the Islam story from when I was a kid, about that bridge being as thin as 1/7 of hair..

It's funny how all of these apocalypse stories focus on one tiny corner of the planet. It's almost like the humans writing these books only had a small reference of the world they lived in. Really makes you think.
