My cousins live in the Oakland hills and I hope that they make it out of there and they don't lose their home or their lives. I'm sending prayers for everyone that lives in that area! 🙏 I remember that fire back in 1991 and I was living in San Leandro at the time and it was sad because people lost their lives and their homes as well as their pets, so I hope that it doesn't turn out like it did back then.

I cannot believe how many homes in that footage still don't have quality defensible space. The original Oakland Hills Fire is generally considered the wake-up call for communities in the wildland urban interface. Oakland Hills should a leading example of community wildfire protection.

I knew this was going to happen because these idiots don’t clean up dead growth and trim back their trees from their houses the roads suck and makes it difficult for firefighters to get to the fire.

I went to Holy Names University and use to live in the Oakland Hills hoping the OAKLAND fire department can contain it and get it under control. Hope folks get out safely

Unbelievable.... I assisted the Piedmont Ca. Fire Department back during the 1991 firestorm. Looks like very few people learned their lesson from this. New Residents didn't maintain a defensible fire space, etc. Many of the streets are very narrow, etc. It's 1991 all over again.... Unbelievable...
