I have a 2016 base with the 3.6, awd and the 8l45 transmission.
I picked it up off a lease with 59K on the odometer. It didn’t take long for me to notice the shudder and I had to do some homework before I knew what it was. There’s a class action lawsuit over the transmission and a few TSB’s - the last which is flushing and changing the fluid to the “correct type fluid” - all done on GM’s dime.
I had mine serviced and got about 7, 000 miles and felt the shudder beginning again so I brought it back. This time they swapped the torque converter and fluid again. I’m over 20K daily driving and that problem is a thing of the past. Fingers crossed it stays that way.
Next: the air conditioning.
Summer 2020 in July - I come out of work in Manhattan to zero functioning air conditioning. I drove through the Battery tunnel with the commuter busses in traffic. That sucked. Nothing got it to blow cold until I got to Staten Island at home and disconnected my ground on my battery. I did a “hard reset” - everything worked perfect immediately after. But the issue kept happening an I noticed that the temperature gauge on the dash was bottomed to the lowest temperature and the electric cooling fans were on full blast. Every time I did a reset it fixed it but it would happen again at least 3 times a week. All of the Cadillac forums had people saying they went to the dealership and had to get the air conditioning fixed. I wasn’t satisfied because with the reboot it still worked. So I did more homework. As it turns out - the 3.6 (LGX) is also installed in the same year(s) Camaros. The difference is most Cadillac owners probably don’t even open their hoods, nonetheless work on their cars. They bring the car to the dealership. Camaro owners do tend to “play with their cars”
I’m a diehard hotrodder! I have big block toys, GM toys, Mopar toys and I like fixing things. So I went to a Camaro forum and there it was in print. The answers to the air conditioning problem. With the LGX 3.6 engine. The thermostat is the problem. If you start your vehicle and drive off and the engine doesn’t get up to temperature within a time threshold your BCM and ECM will think the engine is low on coolant and put the vehicle into a default limp mode. It shuts off the air conditioning and runs the fans. Now for more fun. The thermostat is in between bank 1 & 2 at the bottom of the V, under the intake manifold so it’s a costly repair not recommended for a novice. I have yet to take the time to do the job myself but for the meantime. I run the vehicle with the remote start twice before I go anywhere - EVERY-TIME. I’ve been doing so for almost 2 years and I never have a problem.
Sorry for the long winded comment but I hope it helps someone…

I had a 2016 Platinum edition and totally regret to have traded it in. That was a fine vehicle and I've owned many Cads, Lincolns. BMW, MB as well as most American model vehicles

I have found it necessary to put the AC on "recirculat" when the outside temp is above 100. My Toyota does this automatically but my 18 CT6 doesn't do it automatically and it is normally in "fresh air" unless you manually put it in recirculat.
I am in TX and it has been over 100 for weeks.

I have a 2017 CT6 3.0 TT with 36, 000 miles.... I have a delayed rough shift from 1st to 2nd gear for about 15mins and after that it smoothes out until I restart the car. The Dealer said 'I would have to deal with it" because GM knows about the problem but will not fix it unless my Transmission fails completely. It has the updated fluid and latest software update

I love my 2016 CT6. I have owned it since it had 6000 miles on it. That was way back in 2017. Only problem I have had is with the turbos and that was covered by the warranty. It now has 175, 000 miles. Joe

Yes we had this problem with our 2010 Acura Tl. The problem with the AC only happens after an hour or more driving, short trips it works fine. The dealership couldn't find the problem so they changed the blend motor Actuator, after another 6 months the problem came back and they changed the blower motor. Then four months later I same problem
I took it back, cuss them out to get it fixed and the finally found the evaporator coil freezing up and replaced it, no more issues now after one year, AC works great

I had this issue with a 2017 Colorado. The ac would go out, so I played with it. Turned the ac button on and off and it worked again just fine. Computer issue with the car thinking the line is freezing up even when it's not. Got it reprogrammed and never had the issue again.
