IKEA Style Swedish Meatballs with Brandy Cream Sauce
Показать описание
If you're a fan of IKEA meatballs then these are very close to the ones that you'll find being served at your local IKEA dining hall. The best thing about this recipe though, it's it costs less to make than 1 serving.
Makes: 4 serves
Time: 20 minutes
Total Cost: $8.76
To make this recipe you will need:
Meatballs
500g Minced Beef ($4.00)
2 large eggs ($0.50)
1 small onion, minced and sauteed in 2 tsp. oil until translucent ($0.44)
1/4 cup thickened Cream ($0.27)
1 tsp. All purpose seasoning ($0.10)
1/4 tsp. Allspice ($0.10)
1/4 tsp. Nutmeg ($0.10)
2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil ($0.15)
Cream sauce
1.5 cups Beef stock ($0.28)
1 cup Heavy Cream ($1.37)
2 tbsp. Brandy ($1.00)
2 tsp. Dijon Mustard ($0.25)
2 tsp. Worcerstershire sauce ($0.15)
1 tsp. all purpose seasoning ($0.05)
Place all of the ingredients for the meatballs into a large bowl, including the sauteed onion. Using a hand mixer, mix until combined and the mixture is light and fluffy. The mixture should be soft, but should still hold it's shape. Roll the mixture into tablespoon sized balls.
In a large pan (I use the same pan that I sauteed the mushrooms in) heat half the oil. Place half of the meatballs into the pan and brown until just cooked through. Remove from pan, set aside and repeat for the other half of the meatballs.
Now that the meatballs are cooked, place the ingredients to make the cream sauce into the same pan in which you cooked the meatballs. Whisk until smooth and allow to simmer until reduced and thickened to your liking.
I like to add the meatballs and cover them entirely with cream sauce. You can although serve the meatballs with sauce on the side or pour a little sauce over thet top. This is great served with mashed potato and cranberry sauce / ligonberry jam.
