Pocket Mirror Original and GoldenerTraum Comparison

So the pocky mirror remaster demo came out technically yesterday now in my timezone at least so I decided I wanted to do a bit of a comparison video for those who were also interested/are big pocket mirror fans. I'm personally super stoked for the full release and I hope you are as well!

Original Pocket Mirror's TS is a masterpiece. The picture itself is drawn very nice, but there's more than that. Goldia is lying in the darkness, where her pocket mirror is the only source of light, like it is for Goldia herself. It is also near the center of composition, which only proofs its importance. As some commenters pointed out, Goldia only opens her eyes when the game is about to start. Her being asleep in TS is because TS comes before the game, and so her adventure starts only when she opens her eyes (i hope you can understand my point, English isn't my first language lol). Also shatters of glass flying around more resonates with game's vibe, unlike rose petals. Plus new title screen is more still and doesn't replicate the epicness of TS's theme start.

I do love the comparison. Pocket mirror original will always have a place in my heart. The remake doesn't have that "horror" and dark aspect the original has, but I'll check it out for myself. I can't wait when the full version is released!! Thank you for the comparisons!

I really like the new art style but I find the old start menu more cool, the way the opens her eye when you start, i love it! (sorry for bad eng, not my first language)

There are lots of things I like more about the Original, like the soundbites (Annalise's laugh was my favorite thing ever when I was younger) as well as the character art, but I do like the quality of the new version a lot more, and I especially love the extra sprite movements! Goldia's hair lift and the hands coming out of the mirror are gorgeous! I agree with the comment saying it seems a little less dark, but at least its easier to see, haha. I'm not entirely sure why they changed the character art style, I really did like the original, but the new version of egliette is beautiful so I definitely can see myself switching between designs!

I think it’s cool that they have a setting so you can choose between the new and old art styles! While I do like the newer style, it feels a bit too much, personally anyways, but it’s nice that they give people the option to switch styles

Now that the remake has been out for some time, really wild how they cut out most of the ball room section

I didn’t mind that much, it became one of my least liked sections of the game because of how drawn out it felt when at the end it was kind of.. pointless, at least symbolism wise (unless you believe the theory that it’s the murder that happened in Harpae’s section with the ghost dresses from a different, more childish perspective but that kind of feels like reaching to me)


Still, it shocked me quite a bit when I realized it :^ wonder what else they have cut out

I felt like the art in the remake for the characters is a bit too much for me especialky for Harpae and Lisette because I prefer the old style of their art when I saw the original game of Pocket Mirror though the cool thing for the remake IS THAT THE STAIR MECHANISM ISNT SO HARD since Enjel wont be as fast of a runner to caught up to the main protag. Though I dont like how Enjel has to jump and create a shockwave to damage us in the remake cause I would freak out. Also I love the extra dialogue for Enjel cause I felt that something is missing there for Enjel cause it ended very fast. I also love that there is a new ending for the remake cause I do like some extra endings.

I prefer the soft laughter of the original, it's way creepier

Other than that, the remake looks stellar

A lot of people don't like goldenertraums art style but i think its perfect and the designs are wayyy better than the Original pocket mirror

sorry i def don't like the new sprites xwx Goldia and Eggliette look both so stretched up. i don't like the big difference between Eggliette being held by Fletta and her alone self in the new game either, the button eyes are fine but the mouth, she feels like a whole different doll than her self.

Is the story still the same 1/1 in the remastered or they removed/added parts of it

actually i like the details that i can see more clearly in new versions but the characters art i like old one (especially egliette
i feel like they want to have same color style as their new game but they don't have to🥲
but the new animation is great!

No entiendo por que a mucha gente no le gusta el estilo de arte del remake, digo es prácticamente el mismo, solo que con cambios menores a excepción de harpae quien sufrio un cambio muy drástico que en lo personal me gusta, ya que el objetico de ella es parecer una hermana mayor amorosa, cosa que el diaeño original no trasmite. Té puede gustar el original esta bien pero no traamite la sensación que deberia trasmitir harpae. dé algo que me quejo es que eliminaron parte del escenario se baile y el laberinto del jardín que pensándolo bien, creo que fue lo mejor esas partes en especial el laberinto entorpecian el progreso. A menos que seas como yo, que le gusta investigar hasta el objeto mas inutil. En fin el remake no es malo es muy bueno de hecho me gusta tanto su estilo como el del original si no te gusta tienes el original que nadie te lo va a quitar.

I think the biggest downside imo is the sprite in the remake of goldia, its just a personal preference but i dont really like it at all
