After Joker traps Robin in a building with a bomb, Batman saves Robin (Jason) but he dies in the process. So Jason, Dick (The First Robin) and Barbara (former bat girl before getting paralyzed by the Joker) have a funeral.

Batman more than earned the respect of the members of the Justice League. Even Amanda Waller respects him. Batman had no powers, relying on his wits and body alone; pushing himself to his limits over and over because he will never give up so long as he draws breath. He cares for his fellow man no matter how much his brooding exterior puts eveyone off. He knows the pain of loss and understands that one bad day can destroy your entire world. Its why he tries to rehabilitate all his enemies. He sees theres still the people they were before breaking and he wants to help them heal.

I honestly love how the original Three embody Bruce in the three fundamental ways that his personality was built dick was the justice Jason was the vengeance and Tim was the kindness

I think it would've been an even better mystery if Batman never found his body...just a torn up piece of cape and his shirt cinged with only the R left untouched! And like 5 panels each one further and further away of Batman on his knees in despair.... weeping!

might be the most humanizing line ever spoken about the justice league, in the end they had no real guidance to offer -just tales about a guy who saved the world as many times as he saved his own people, they come to grieve with him and i think that sets this apart from other adaptations where the JL is strictly business
