Trivium's official music video for "The Heart From Your Hate", from the album The Sin And The Sentence, available on Roadrunner Records.

Directed by JonPaul Douglass

LYRICS:
It’s easy to be right
When everything repeats
It’s easier to cut us down and point at our defeat
It’s easy to be right
When everything repeats
Dig below the surface, find your insecurities

Tell me
Maybe you were right
Maybe I was wrong
But I’ve been silent for far too long
Maybe you were right
Maybe I should go
But I’ve been silent for far too long

What will it take
To rip the heart from your hate
What will it take
What will it take
To rip the heart from your hate

You always walk away
Soon you'll have to face it
Your distance from reality won't bury or erase it
I tried to do the same
Living so complacent
But the problems wouldn't go away so I turned around to face them

Melodic but groovy, heavy but calm. This song kicks some serious ass.

Trivium is definitely underated, they're incredible, I listen to them everyday.

I've followed Trivium for years, since Ascendancy.

In High School I actually wrote a column for my school newspaper and actually got a hold of Matt for it, to just talk about Trivium's direction, (this was right after they dropped Travis Smith, their first drummer), and had brought in Nick Augusto (still one of my favorite trivium members), and I asked a lot of questions, about Augusto, the band.

I closed with this question: "Where do you see Trivium in 15 years?"

Matt K. Heafy replied to me:

"Making the music we want to make."

It's now been almost 10 years since I published that article. Needless to say, Matt has stuck pretty true to that. He's developed as an artist. Music is first and foremost an expression of feeling and emotion. Matt has never sold out. He has never given into the mainstream media fully. He has always made the music he and the band want to make, and he has never settled for less.

Yes, Shogun was amazing. Yes, Ascendancy was stellar. Yes we all loved Ember, and yes, nothing has been the same.

But I think that's part of the maturing process for Matt and the band. And we either support him as an artist, in return for creating music that has given us what we wanted. Or we ditch Matt in the dirt and find someone else who is less mature than Matt.

I for one, will stand by Matt, because he and the members of Trivium, have given me 10+ years of awesome metal. I may not like every song, but I didn't like the entire crusade album either. But I am a Trivium fan. And I always will be. And that means standing by the decisions the bands make.

This song got me through my divorce from a very hateful and abusive person. It brings back all the painful memories, but at the same time it reminds me that I survived it all and did not let my demons win.

Trivium: Hey let's get heavier while still having melody and harmony coming from the guitars.
Many other US hardrock and metal bands: Is that legal
Metal bands from Europe: Yes.

I have a feeling that this is going to be one of Trivium’s biggest hits

Matt Heafy's voice is the last thing anyone expects in a metal band like this

If people want full octane metalcore/thrash, listen to an earlier album or just don't listen to the band at all. They are evolving their sound, this is their 8th album. They aren't going to be making Ascendancy or Shogun 8 times over. They're in their 30s. They have matured their sound and guess what? It's still epic as fuck.

Graduated with Matt Heafy and am "friends" with him but we dont talk over the cell phone or hang out. was in many of his classes; he graduated from Lake Brantley in 2004 in Orlando and got to graduate half a year early to tour Europe. I look up to the guy as one of the best guitarists of our time, a lot of his new music isn't like his old stuff but dont hate, everyone changes their style of music.. Maybe not the best vocalist but he went from playing in high school battle of the bands to being signed to Lifeforce records and then ultimately Roadrunner records and I wish him the best. Matt you the man!

Maybe you were rice,
maybe I was raw,
But I've been salad for far too long
Maybe you were rice,
Maybe I was dough,
But I've been SALAD for far too long

What will it take
To rip the tart from your plate
What will it take,
What will it take
To rip the tart from your plate
Hey
To rip the tart from your plate
Hey
To rip the tart from your plate!

Oh wait you mean to tell me Matt ISN'T singing a food protest song? Darn, I guess I don't connect to this song as much as I thought I did...

I recently re discovered this song. Haven’t listened to it in many years. I know this a heavy”radio” type of song but it’s still a banger. Shit has been stuck in my head since rediscovering it.

This is what is so great about metal. There are so many nuances. Its not just all about screaming and heavy riffs.

"You always walk away, soon you'll have to face it, your distance from reality won't bury or erase it, I tried to do the same, living so complacent, but the problems wouldn't go away so I turned around to face them." Strong, truthful lyrics many people have to deal with. Love.

Person: I don't like this!
Me: *[gently head banging]* Maybe you were right, maybe I was wrong.
Person: Please don't-
Me: *[obnoxiously close to their face]* What will it take to RIP THE HEART FROM YOUR HATE
*air guitaring*
