We here at Budget MTG Decks love playing constructed Magic: the Gathering! Whether it’s EDH / Commander, standard or modern, duel or multiplayer, we can’t get enough of it.

Our vision of MTG is a game which encourages strategic thinking, social interaction and above all…fun! To make this accessible to everyone we decided to lower the two largest barriers which people encounter with this game:

1: Cost of building a Magic deck.
2: Complexity of building a Magic deck.

Our mission at Budget MTG Decks is to provide full deck tech videos describing ready to play EDH / Commander and duel decks. With in depth commentary on each card and overall play style. To make sure the decks are truly budget we have limited the price of all our cards to under a dollar (with exception of the commanders). Now everyone can join the Magic: the Gathering fun!

Niv Mizzet has forever been my favorite Magic Card. His flavor text alone is godlike and this deck is amazing!! My personal favorite is Foil, and every card synergizes so well with one another. Instant sub and like, great work.

Hey guys, I love this deck and made a variation of it for a commander tourney that my Local Store ran, and it came in first, against a couple 1500 dollar decks. I added a few cards, such as Enter the Infinite and Epic Experiment and Mind's Dilation, none of which are below 1 dollar, but aren't much more.

However, my favorite card, under one dollar, that I added, was Library of Leng. It was only about 31 cents, and having the "No Maximum Hand Size" with Venser's Journal is redundant. However, having the ability to discard cards to the top of my library instead of to my graveyard, and in any order (only should a card's effect make you discard, not as a cost), let my Jace's Archivist and my Niv Mezzet combine into the ultimate "Deck-Out/Damage" combo. I would HIGHLY reccomend putting it into any deck that relies on card draw, and any deck in general, honestly, as it is only a 1 cost artifact.

Played my first EDH game with my son and his friend last week, and like a prophet you seem to have known I am working on an Izzet commander deck now. I have recently bought Mind vs Might so I should be able to pinch a few cards from there, and I also have some additional U/R lands to draw upon (Wandering Fumarole, Spirebluff Canal and a Temple of Epiphany but I know they are no where near being Budget!).

Nice list as always! Couple suggestions: could you guys do zada, hedron grinder? Also, consider offering more in upgrade options. Either make a new video on an old deck and show moderate level upgrades, or put upgrades at the end of the video. The first thing players are gonna wanna do is start upgrading once they build a budget list. Keep up the good work guys! I built your omnath, rage list BTW. Love it!

I've played Niv-Mizzet for a few years. You've put a good budget list together, but some very important additions to include would be abilities that either skip your discard phase or state "You have no maximum hand size". Since your build was so cheap, it will be worth it to spend a little more for these cards. Here are some examples:
