Well actually I kind of made THREE Tom Rolts in this video, and obviously that's because it didn't go to plan..
Cheers.

I was SO impressed with how you made the corners on the lining

Hopefully, Fourdees will produce a version. I feel Shapeways have fallen way behind in terms of quality. Westcliff could do a good job but production is unreliable at the moment. Thanks for a very informative video 😊

Yay, the one I've driven! The loco looks great. I also find it interesting that after lockdown the TR board seemed to say we want all the engines green. The message seemed to get lost after no.2, for a bit of 90's nostalgia no/4 should be in the GWR scheme it had 😉

Glad it worked out in the end and that Shapeways customer support was easy to work with, considering you mentioned the model plastic was soft the first few times and the 3rd only felt stiff after being left to cure in the sun, I can't help but wonder if perhaps shapeways isn't giving the models enough time to properly cure and set before they're shipped off?
This might explain the brittle nature of the first two models and their subsequent demise after being painted

I think I was lucky with my percy chassis as the cylinder block wasnt glued in, congratulations on 4K subs btw!

Great video. I feel your pain with the body issues you had. I've had a white metal locomotive I brought once and when it was having the time with the paint remover I found to my horror the body was glued and the remover was dissolving the glue. And the tip for applying lining will be very helpful.

I've just found your channel, some great content. I heard bad things about Shapeways and this sort of explains why they're closing down.

She looks very smart!! What livery are you planning on painting Talyllyn?

I’m thinking about modelling the Talyllyn in OO9 and have been looking around at different options for building the locos. Since Shapeways are no longer in business what do you recommend using for Tom Rolt?

So impressed how you build your engines. Nice to see. If there is one book about the Talyllyn Railway to get, which would you recommend?

I don't know how you get your marking to be so flawless. Every time I try masking off a part, I get paint seepage. I'm using Tamiya tape and everything but the only thing that has works is masking it off them spraying over the tape with the background colour, but that leaves a little paint verge once the tape is removed.

All's well that ends well - nice work on your part 😊✌️👍💜 My 0-16.5 work is very similar, some projects have stalled (not through lack of effort I might add - and that's not even me doing perfectionism) and, now with resin printed kits things have moved on, thank goodness (but they don't help my 75% complete models🤔🙄💔).

What superglue do you use? The stuff I can find leaves a frost effect that won’t go away and you never seem to have that issue

Where are the coupling hooks for the engine?

Lovely model of Tom rolt! Except you neglected his mechanical lubricator' on the opposing side to the air pump. Not a big loss, but hoping to see it fitted in future.

Not bad mate. I hope to see you make Alf one day.

Shapeways do seem to have lost the plot. I fancied build Lilla on the Mintrains F&C chassis a while ago and the cost of the print including postage was well over £100. When others are producing similar items for £20 I very much doubt I'll buy from them. Also well done for tracking down Percy - they seem to be pretty rare now.

You can use this to make Ivo Hugh from the RWS

That is superb. Not tempted to do everybody’s favourite Belgian valve gear? RT models would probably work out….
