Before I found Aurora, I've been trying to smile through all the pain with songs from Gaga, Sia, Coldplay, Amber Run, Mili, Taylor etc... After I heard Under Stars, I knew I found the right one... Though Chandelier could also make me cry my eyes out, Aurora makes me see that I'm not that useless piece of junk that everyone says I am, I'm not just another NPC walking along the earth to help others... I have my own story, my own thoughts, my own dreams. I don't have to die for something so petty, I don't have to give in to the life I am having, I don't have to face my demons alone... Rather all my demons are greeting me as a friend :) .
Running with the Wolves, Murder Song, Lucky, Animal Soul, Forgotten Love... they resonate with me so dearly, so truly...
This song though... it just let's me be at ease knowing that disappearing from life isn't the only option... I can change myself, and I can change people...

This is my favorite version of this song. The studio version cleaned up a lot of the qualities that this version captures. The frailty of her voice and some of the wavering of the vocals and the imperfections of the live version are what makes this version special to me. She is an amazing artist who has touched me on such a deep emotional level. No other artist in my 61 years comes close. She is special and I hope that she produces music for a long time to come. She makes the world a better place for me.

I think this song is about missing home. It's like she has been away too long and feels colder or is missing the warmth of home. And I think the line about looking down from a cloud is about looking down from a plane in the air, thinking about the people back home. That's where my brain went to first anyway.

I feel like this song is about slowly losing yourself, realizing this, and reclaiming yourself- your true self. It's a drastic change, ie. a death takes place. A death of past self and a past of what you've become- truly becoming what you know you can become. Truly doing what you know you can do. Believing in yourself, truly, and allowing yourself the freedom to begin to connect with oneself.
